DO WE VACCINATE?
We do vaccinate all of our goats with the CD/T Vaccination once a year.  We feel that the vaccine is important for a long, quality, healthy, and happy life of our goats.
The vaccine protects the goat against three painful and deadly diseases: Clostridium type C, type D and Tetanus.
Goats are very suseptible to these three diseases and the treatments that are available, if contracted, are not very effective.
We vaccinate our milking does 30 days prior to kidding, which we would have already stopped milking her in preparation for her kids to arrive.  We also do not start milking the doe for human consumption until at least 2 weeks after kidding. This would be approximately 6 weeks from the goats time of vaccintion until her milk is actually availble to the public.

WHAT WE FEED

All goats on our farm are available to free grazing/browsing during the day.  They are also provided hay, clean water, and minerals 24/7 in their designated barn areas.
A dairy goat's health benefits greatly with the addition of a quality feed to their diet when their bodies are working hard grow and to produce milk  Feed also helps support our milking girls' production throughout the year.
Our goal it to be as organic as possible and feed with non-GMO products.  However, currently we have not found an accessible feed that is organic and non-GMO that we feel provides our milking girls with the nutrition they need.  But we do provide them a high quality feed specifically formulated for dairy goat nutrition needs. Hopefully in the future we will be able to transition to a quality organic non-GMO feed when available.
Our growing kids are offered a quality feed and alfalfa to support their growth, was well as black oil sunflower seeds for additional vitamins and minerals for their overall health.

If you have any questions concerning our farm's husbandry practices, please contact us for more information.
